Youth Director

Matthew Bottoms

Matt was born in Cleveland, Tennessee, and came to Florida by way of the US Navy. Matt and his wife, Brittany, have two sons, Elijah and Isaiah, and are expecting their third child – a little girl – on September 27th – which happens to be two days after Matt’s birthday!
Matt served in the US Navy on the Ballistic Missile Submarine USS ALABAMA (SSBN-731) and the Guided Missile Cruiser USS PHILIPPINE SEA. As a point of reference, the 1995 Movie Crimson Tide starring Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington took place on the USS Alabama according to the script, although the US Navy refused to cooperate with the filming.
It was during his time in the Navy that he felt called to further his education in the word of God, and to serve the Church. Upon leaving the Navy Matt earned his Bachelor of Science in Bible and Theology from Lee University. He is currently working toward earning his Master of Divinity through Asbury Theological Seminary.
As our Youth Director, Matt has been busy from the first day he arrived on campus. Matt is currently leading our Youth and many church family members through the challenge of reading the Bible in six months. We are sure Matt would love to have you join his challenge – and they are presently at the end of Joshua and heading into Judges.
Matt has a deep love of music, so with the help and support of John Stephens, they started our No Fret Guitar Ministry. This ministry works to bring the gift of music and the joy of Christ to teens. Each of our teens receive basic lessons and their very own guitar. Matt (and John’s) concept is to share the love of Christ through the lifetime gift of music.
Matt also works outside of the church as a Mechanical Supervisor, but his first love (outside of his family) is being with the Youth of our church and community. When Matt is not working or spending time with his family, he also enjoys riding his motorcycle with passion for both Ducati and Harley Davidson bikes.
